Dear Students, Parents and Guardians:
As leaders in academic excellence, the Ottawa-Glandorf School District recognizes that students of this generation learn and engage in education differently than students in the past. Research has demonstrated that students today learn best when they are actively involved in their education, and technology engages students in all grade levels and at all academic levels. As a result, schools need to use technology to promote active and engaged learning throughout their educational experience. Effective integration of technology into teaching and learning can result in higher levels of student achievement. Therefore, Ottawa-Glandorf High School will continue the implementation of our iPad initiative this school year.
The philosophy behind the iPad Initiative
While there are several different technology “tools” to explore, it was determined that the iPad is presently the “tool” with the greatest potential to meet the individual needs of students and provide a smooth integration into the district’s technology environment. After considering the cost, limitations, available applications, and portability, the iPad was chosen as the optimal technology for our students. Overall, the iPad is both an effective and economical way to integrate technology into the education of our students.
