🌟The First National Bank Junior Board of Directors recently held their final meeting of the year! The Direct Delivery logo was revealed. The students received custom t-shirts and explored topics like long-term business planning and forecasting. They also took part in a personal finance session focused on the differences between debit and credit cards.
It’s been a pleasure working with this incredible group of juniors from Bluffton, Findlay, Liberty-Benton, Pandora-Gilboa, and Ottawa-Glandorf High Schools. We’re excited to see all they accomplish in their senior year!

Putnam County high school students gain hands-on financial education in a real-world money management simulation called "Real Money, Real World," a hands-on budget management and decision-making activity. Booths are staffed with volunteers from the Ohio State University Extension in Putnam County and Superior Credit Union, where they represent actual businesses in the community. During the simulation, students assume the role of an adult. They receive an occupation, a monthly salary, and the number of children they are raising. Throughout the activity, students keep track of their finances and attempt to complete the simulation with a positive balance. Thank you to the Ohio State University Extension of Putnam County and Superior Credit Union for putting this event on for our students!

Congrats to Avery Laubenthal and Abby Giesige! Their artwork has been selected to move on to the VFW Auxiliary Scholarship state judging! From there, if chosen, the artwork will go on to nationals. Avery's piece is a drawing created from graphite and Prismacolors. Abby's piece is wood that she burned, sanded, and stained her design. Congratulations and Good Luck!

Job Posting: Full-time Teacher, 9-12 High School Art for the 2025-2026 School Year

The Putnam County Junior Board wrapped up the year by visiting Whirlpool and the State House. This 2-day trip provided a valuable, hands-on learning experience in manufacturing and government operations. Representatives from Ottawa-Glandorf High School are Addyson Bellman, Aiden Ruhe, and Benjamin Schroeder. Thanks to the First National Bank for giving our students this experience!
Day 1:
*Whirlpool Manufacturing Training Area: Students participated in an informative session at Whirlpool in Ottawa, where they learned about the manufacturing process and the skills required in this field.
*Whirlpool Plant Tour: A guided tour of the Whirlpool plant gave students an up-close look at the operations and technology involved in production.
Compass Room Experience: In this session, students learned about problem-solving, cost savings, and operational efficiency.
Day 2:
* Treasurer's Office: Students toured Treasurer Sprague’s Office, gaining insight into the financial management of public funds.
* Ohio Statehouse Tour: The group had the opportunity to explore the Ohio Statehouse, learning about Ohio history and the architecture of the building.
*Meeting with Senate President Rob McColley: The students were given the chance to ask questions and learn about Senator McColley’s responsibilities and background.
*Governor's Office Tour: Students toured Governor Mike Dewine’s Office and were able to sit at his historic desk that dates back to 1857. Lincoln sat at this desk across from then-Ohio Governor William Dennison, Jr., and discussed the impending Civil War. During this visit to the Ohio Statehouse, Lincoln was informed that he had won the election to the Presidency of the United States. The Governor's Office today is virtually identical to the Governor's office that Abraham Lincoln saw in 1861.
*Senate Committee Meeting and Senate Session: To conclude the day, students observed a live Senate Committee meeting followed by a Senate session, providing them with a firsthand understanding of the legislative process.
