Congratulations 8th graders Clare Turnwald and Caleb Schroeder for placing in the 2024 Johnny Appleseed Metro Parks Nature Photo Contest. Clare got 1st in the Youth Landscape category for her Leafy Trail photo and 3rd in the Youth Potpourri category for her Steps at FTA photo. Caleb got 1st in the Youth Potpourri category for his Toad House photo. Prints of their photos will be on display at Art Space Lima (artspacelima.com) through the end of the year, and then displayed in the McElroy Environmental Education Center (MEEC) for 2025. Great job you two!💜🍁📸💛

In Mrs. Imm's 4th grade social studies class students are leaning about the American Revolution. Students enjoyed working with their “band” members to create a song about Paul Revere’s midnight ride. 💜🎶🐴🇺🇸💛

It was an honor celebrating our veterans today. Glandorf Elementary thanks you for your courage and bravery! Shout out to our amazing music teacher, Mrs. Brown and to our 5th and 6th grade dragons for a wonderful program. We love our veterans❤️🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷

No school on Friday, and school will be dismissed early tomorrow. Also, the start time for the boy's varsity football playoff game at Shelby High School on Friday, has been moved back to 7:30 pm.

While the week might be hectic, we hope everyone is patient, understanding, and flexible as we do our best to make this work. Please be aware that our Friday schedule is dependent on the outcome of our State Semi-Final games. Please see the image of our schedule this week.

Thank you to Mrs. Bonnie Brooks from the Putnam County Soil and Water  Conservation District that visited 6th & 7th grade Science classrooms this week. 6th grade explored soil textures of sand, silt, and clay and made soil play dough to learn how ribboning can help identify the soil type. 7th grade learned about human impacts on the water cycle using the Enviroscape model. Students will study these impacts locally through participatory science projects like Nitrate Watch and Salt Watch. Their important data will be submitted to national databases where it will be used as part of larger scientific studies. Check back here in the future for information about what you can do to keep Putnam county waterways clean and healthy for future generations!💜🌏💦💛

Our classrooms have been festive filled these past few weeks! Today Mrs. Lanwehr's 1st grade class made pumpkin punch to learn about the states of matter:solid, liquid and gas. 🎃💜🎃💛🎃

Thank you to GROB apprentices for coming to the land of dragons and doing a stem activity with Mrs. Reckers 1st grade class. They had fun making and testing flying magnetic ghosts.💜👻💛

The 5th graders in Miss Ross’s Social Studies class are currently learning about Native Americans all over the US. Last week they dove into how the Sioux and Lakota tribes lived. Each class got to try jerky like the Native Americans did and compared the process of making jerky today compared to the 1600’s. They also learned that these tribes survived off of buffalo and bison and got to see a real life bison skull and horns. They talked about how the Sioux used every part of the animal. Big thanks to Jerry and Jay Osting for supplying the jerky and bison!!💜🦬💛

Ottawa-Glandorf Local Schools as well as a couple of other area schools and many businesses are having an issue with calls from AT&T customers. The school personnel and business representatives can't hear the AT&T caller, but the caller is able to hear the school or business rep who is answering the call. HUGE THANK YOU to pilot, Roger Nienberg, for teaching 7th Grade PLTW Flight and Space students about the airplane he built! He was gracious enough to let kindergarteners through 8th grade sit in the pilot seat! What a great way to start off Red Ribbon Week!!! ✈️✈️✈️

On Wednesday the Putnam County Greenspace Committee with assistance from Ava, Clare, Kaley and Lillian of the Ecolizers planted plants along Route 65 near the building formally known as Rite Aid. Great job ladies helping out the local community and making a positive impact to the environment! 💜🪴💛

The baby lettuce has sprouted! Thanks to the hard work of the Ecolizers Glandorf Elementary has two functioning hydroponic systems and will have heads of lettuce  for use by the cafeteria in the near future.💜🥬💛
