The O-G High School Concert Band is excited to take what is probably its first-ever shot at the State level Concert Band Adjudicated Event hosted by the Ohio Music Education Association. Back in March, the band went to the District level event, where it received an overall "1" or "Superior" rating, the highest possible, qualifying the ensemble for the State level event. While the last time that the ensemble received a "1" at the District event is unknown, it is known that in previous years, the band would not continue on to the State level event after qualifying, marking this as quite possibly the first time the O-G High School Concert Band has ever made an appearance at State.
The band will be performing a program of three pieces for a panel of three judges consisting of current and former music educators where they will be assessed on their performance ability. Following the stage performance, the band will go into a separate space where they will engage in a sight-reading exercise (being handed brand new music they have never seen before and being tasked with playing it with minimal preparation), where they will also be assessed by an adjudicator. The ratings from the four judges are then composited to create the final overall rating between "1" and "5," with a "1" (Superior) being the best.
The band performs at 8 AM on Saturday, April 27th in the Findlay High School Auditorium. The stage performance is free and open to the public (the sight-reading portion is only open to band staff/students and administration).

The Gold Medal Meet which was scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed until Monday, April 15.
Our Junior Board of Directors from the county toured Whirlpool in Findlay and traveled to the Statehouse in Columbus on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. They had two full days of learning about Whirlpool, traveled to Columbus and toured the Statehouse, met Senator Rob McColley, got a tour of the Treasurer's Ceremonial office tour, and were there during the State of the State address by Governor DeWine and more. Representing OGHS Junior Board of Directors are Brandon Gerding, Jayden Kuhlman, Peyton Kuhlman, and Makenna Siefker.
Tuesday – Whirlpool Tour in Findlay
Learned about the Whirlpool Brand, Mission, Vision
Toured the Plant – saw how they use people, robots, and automation.
Manufacturing Training Area Demonstration – students did hands-on activities (ask them about the rope game and who won) that new employees would participate in.
Compass Room Experience – learned about cost savings and problem solving.
Heard from members of their staff about career opportunities and their paths.
Tuesday – Easton for Dinner and Hotel

Treasurer’s Ceremonial Office Tour – learned about how the treasurer’s office works with local banks and helps homeowners and farmers with different programs they offer.
Senator Rob McColley – he spoke about his career path, what are the most challenging things about his job, his job description, and careers in politics.
Statehouse Tour – Chris gave a great historical tour of the Ohio Statehouse.
State of the State Address – the statehouse was very busy due to Governor DeWine giving his State of the State address.

Our seniors in Career Prep have been exploring the world of manufacturing in Putnam county! We kicked off our unit by having Mrs. Michelle Schroeder come and speak to us about the world of HR, and how to put yourself out there online and in person to get the job you want. We explored the Build Putnam website and with the help of Karl Schimmoeller were able to bring in some amazing local businesses to speak to our students. Kim Schroeder was able to come in and speak to us about the Workforce Partnership of Putnam County, Mindi Rue joined us from Endera, Chris Ripke from Mars Petcare, Carleigh Ankerman from BK Tool, Melanie Roethlisberger from PPI, and Jeff Rains and Kristin Gudakunst from Whirlpool. It was an amazing opportunity for our students to see the growth potential for them right here in our own backyard. I wanted to give a tremendous THANK YOU to Karl and all of the speakers for giving up your time to come and speak to our students about the possibilities that await them in Putnam County!

Thank you to the OGHS National Honor Society for purchasing enough solar eclipse glasses so everyone in the high school can have a pair for the big event on Monday, April 8th. Mrs. Elaine Hoehn's Biomedical Sciences class has made a video discussing what the solar eclipse is, myths, and health problems that can arise if you do not take safety precautions. We hope you learn something about the solar eclipse in this video and use special glasses to view the total solar eclipse on Monday! (Thank you to senior Nick Ellerbrock for editing the video.)

Attention families who live near these areas where roads are underwater:
• District bus drivers will do their best to pick-up students on their route for school
tomorrow morning. Please note that drivers will proceed with an abundance of caution, so please have a back-up plan in place to transport your child(ren) to school in the event that the bus driver cannot make it to your house.
Attention student drivers:
• Do NOT attempt to drive through any roads that are submerged in water, no matter
how deep you believe the water to be. Give yourself plenty of time to take an
alternative route to school if needed.
Road conditions will likely change over the course of the next few hours and days, depending on the amount of rain we receive and the predicted crest times of area rivers and creeks. We will keep you updated with any changes to school operations as soon as possible.

The seniors are on their way home from NYC and should arrive back home at 9:00 pm tonight. Here are some photos of the last things they did on their trip. They got a ride on the subway, went to Chinatown for some shopping, took the elevator to the "Top of the Rock" and saw the amazing city lights, and had dinner in Little Italy. Safe travels home!
The seniors are at the end of their trip to NYC! They spent today in Times Square, saw Little Shop of Horrors on Broadway, took the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, and ventured to Wall Street. Safe travels back home and we can't wait to hear all about your adventures in the Big Apple!
