OG Road Athletic Complex projects

The Ottawa-Glandorf School district put a plan together to improve the OG Road Athletic Complex facilites in phases, and the latest phase is nearing completion thanks to help from several contractors and our maintenance staff.  Aquascapes and Water Solutions worked with Maas Brothers Drilling to drill a well for use on an expanded irrigation system that will now cover the soccer game field, baseball field, and now two additional practice fields as well.  The good news is the project has a four-year payback time frame as the district switches the irrigation on OG Road from city water to the new well water system.  This will result in an operational savings to the district in the long term and will greatly improve the facilities for our student-athletes.  The goal for the next phase is to expand the irrigation system to cover the outfield of the baseball diamond and the outfield of the softball diamond as well.

Another part of the improvements for the soccer practice fields is the installation of a small scoreboard for use during scrimmages and practices.  The district purchased the scoreboard for portable use when the game field at the Soccer Stadium was being tiled a few years ago, and it is now being repurposed to improve our practice fields.  Leopold Construction, Land Pro Excavating, and Home Pro Electric worked together to install the scoreboard and run the necessary power lines.  Finally, Home Turf Lawn Installation is working to bring in topsoil and seed the areas where the trenching took place.

We are excited to see these improvements and we also would ask for help from our friends and neighbors in maintaining these facilities.  We kindly ask that everyone refrain from using motorized vehicles such as golf carts, ATV's, motorcycles, and UTV's on the fields on OG Road.  We need everyone to keep these vehicles off the field to avoid putting in ruts, tearing up the grass, and damaging the sprinkler heads of the new system.  We also ask that people keep their pets off these areas.  It is not fair to our students to have to deal with or dodge what some of the pets leave behind, as they are practicing.
Please be respectful of the facilities and our students by following these requests.
